HOW SAFE IS YOUR DRINKING WATER.

Posted by Healthy Life Style Monday, February 14, 2011

With the world's growing population, it is important to conserve water. Americans waste millions of gallons of water a day with leaking faucets and excessive toilet flushing. Saving drinking water not only helps the environment but one's pocketbook as well.

Shortage.
Americans drink 110 million gallons of water daily. This means an American, on average, uses 140 to 170 gallons of water every day. As populations grow, so will the need for water.

Significance.
Throughout the past few years, many states have endured drought conditions. This means that there is not enough water to help farmers water crops, which means the food supply will be limited as well.

Considerations.
Gray water is one way to recycle drinking water or water that does not go down a drain. This water can be recycled to water plants and grass or used to clean.

EffectsIf businesses such as golf courses recycled treated wastewater by irrigating golf courses, it could save 300,000 gallons of drinking water during the summer and reduce the pollution that trails into water sources.
BenefitsRecycling and saving drinking water saves you money as well. If you fix leaky faucets or use less water, you will have a smaller water bill. You also will save money by not spending extra on bottled water.
